Recently 25 parishioners gathered to share faith and fellowship during the SJA Sister Parish committee's annual retreat. Highlights included:
Reflecting on the Scripture passage about the road to Emmaus (welcoming the stranger);
Discussing "Eucharistic encounters" and being inspired by the words of Father George Wertin, who once said in a homily, "Eucharist is not a thing. No, it's a relationship...it is about sharing the vision and love of Christ."
Brainstorming the values of solidarity and examining how we can better bring these values to our relationship with our sister parish in Guatemala.
Hearing guest speaker Marty Roers (Catholic Charities) speak of Pope Francis and his recent "delegation" visit to the U.S. He spoke about how the Pope modeled the love of God through his personal encounters, and he challenged us to do the same.
