We prepared to leave Coban after spending two nights at the El Calvario parish center. We had a tour of the church, which has 137 steps leading up to it. The steps represent the 137 beads of the rosary.
We then visited the Carmelite Sisters, a cloistered order of nuns. There are 15 sisters living in community there. They center their lives around prayer. They truly had the joy of the Lord on their faces. They served us tea and cookies which they had made.
We then headed back to Guatemala City. We stopped for lunch at Ram Tzum. We were able to hike through their beautiful nature reserve and bamboo forest before we ate. After lunch we headed back to Sister Parish Center to prepare for our return trip to Tierra Nueva Dos.
