On April 3, 1968 the evening prior to his assassination, Dr. King gave his famous sermon “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop” at Mason Temple (Church of God in Christ Headquarters) in Memphis, TN. As we prepare to mark the 50th anniversary of Dr. King’s death, we gather as the Christian faith community under the leadership of the Historic Black Church with support from Catholic, Evangelical and Mainline Protestant denominations to declare that The Dream Continues.
“Nothing would be more tragic than to stop at this point... We've got to see it through.”
-Dr. Martin Luther King, “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop”
