While you may not be able to hug the ones you love during this pandemic, you can still give the gift of warmth in these challenging times. Many families in our area are suffering economically right now and will continue to do so as we move into the winter months. St. Joan’s Warm Hands, Warm Hearts Coat Collection Committee is hoping to set a new record for coats collected for families in need, in spite of the fact that the processes for doing so need to change this year. We hope to maximize the giving this year (over 500 coats) while minimizing the handling of donations to keep everyone safe.
More than ever, families in our cities need our help providing winter items for their children. Led entirely by SJA volunteers, we are beginning our collection of 500 new coats, hats and mittens, and we need your help! The process is a little different this year, and here's how you can participate:
Shop early -- Drop off a new coat, hat and mittens or gloves, in a plastic bag labelled with gender and size on the outside, and drop it off at SJA’s Drive-thru Ministry Event on 9/13.
SIgn up here - We have an online site with options. Once you've purchased the coat, drop everything off at SJA during one of these shifts - plastic bags and labels will be available:
Winter coats and scarves always make social distancing easier in cold and snowy Minnesota. Let’s give kids and families in need one reason to look forward to the season.
Volunteer to don your mask and gloves to accept and sort donations at SJA on the dates above. HERE'S the WHWH Volunteer Sign Up Genius online site. Questions? Call 612.823.8205 (Ext 237) and leave a message.
