Under the leadership of the Church of Gichitwaa Kateri (at 31st and Park Ave.), St. Joan of Arc has been asked to assist in a collection of winter items for our brothers and sisters experiencing homelessness who are dwelling in the tent encampment in Minneapolis. As efforts continue to provide transitional and permanent housing and other resources to those who are struggling to find a place to live, these items are necessary to protect people from frostbite and hypothermia.
Following is a list of necessities – and all donated items must be NEW:
Clothing and outerwear: Hats, gloves, scarves, hand warmers, long underwear (child to 5X), winter boots, warm socks
Sleeping bags rated to 50 degrees below zero, tarps, fleece blankets
Flashlights and batteries, battery operated lanterns, whistles, mace spray, portable chargers
Please drop off items on Sundays in the Egan Room (the open area on the south side of the gym, next to the kitchen) through December 9. Saturday mass-goers can drop off items in the collection box in the church. All items must be in by December 9. Thank you so much for your compassionate help. And if you have questions, please contact parishioners Ruth and Gary at 612.940.1666 or Mary Ellen at 763.535.7241. We thank Ruth, Gary and Mary Ellen for their leadership of this project!

We must commit our best energy to ending homelessness – instead of normalizing its effects. To live in dignity, we all need a safe and affordable place to call home.
