Thursday, October 10, Maureen Carlson, Fran Russell and Karen Waldron had the extreme pleasure of taking the Mobile Loaves Twin Cities truck out to Epiphany Pines senior living in Coon Rapids. The wonderful women in the picture have been knitting hats for MLTC for over 5 years out of their own money. Maureen’s mom started teaching how to knit on a hoop loom and she had her friends join her. The oldest of the group is 97, one can only roll the skeins of yarn in a ball as she does not have the dexterity to knit anymore, another makes one hat a day “to keep busy.” I learned that even at 97 you can keep on giving back! We have collected tons of hats for our program and they have warmed many a head on the street. We brought these women lunch, showed them the truck, talked about the MLTC program and showed the MLF video on You Tube.
It was a fun lunch eating with them, hearing their stories and telling the MLTC history and stories of the people we serve.
Thank you for the support to let us take the truck out to thank them. If they could drive, a couple want to be on the make ready team :)!!!
PS. They also gave us over 100 hats to take back!
