What is the true crisis at the U.S./Mexico border? That was the question posed to recent delegates with SJA's Welcome the Stranger ministry to the U.S./Mexico border. As they shared stories of their experiences, each delegate was asked to identify the real emergency that is taking place, and every person shared the same response: What we are seeing is a crisis of humanity and compassion. As people flee violence and extreme poverty (with much instability in their home countries caused in large part by our policies and drug trade), they have a right to seek asylum here. May we treat these brothers and sisters as we would want to be welcomed, if we had to flee our homes. Thank you to our delegates for giving us a snapshot of this situation and the misery that is being endured.
