St. Joan of Arc parishioners are invited to be prayer partners with members of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, our Sister Parish in Tierra Nueva II, Guatemala. This simple program -- two people exchanging photos and prayers -- provides a surprisingly powerful connection. It has been well received and we are expanding it to include more people.
Here are some comments from the program:
"I put my prayer partner's photo next to my reading/meditation chair, and I pray for her every day." (SJA participant)
"I feel more connected to our Sister Parish because of having my prayer partner." (Tierra Nueva II participant)
“It’s a heart-warming way to make a one-on-one connection with our community in Guatemala.” (SJA participant)
Q: What will I need?
A: A photo plus a brief description of yourself on an index card. The Sister Parish committee will help with translation between English and Spanish. You can also include special prayer requests.
Q: What are my ongoing responsibilities?
A: Simply lift up your partner in thought, prayer and meditation as you would a beloved sister or brother. If desired, you and your partner can exchange occasional notes of fellowship, updates and encouragement. The committee will help with translation and delivery.
Q: How can I get started?
A: On Sunday, April 2 after masses, the Sister Parish committee will have a “prayer partner” table. Stop by to learn more and sign up! (Bring a photo if you can — or we will take one on the spot.) Or, contact Nancy Wiens -- nancywiens1 [at] gmail.com or 651/698-6224. Once collected, the Sister Parish committee will send your photo/description and get you matched up with a prayer partner at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. You'll receive a photo and description of your prayer partner shortly after that.
