First Sunday of Lent Family Masses

First Sunday of Lent Family Masses

First Sunday of Lent Family Masses
February 22
9:00 AM to 12:00 PM

For the First Sunday of Lent, with the gospel of Jesus in the wilderness facing off the darkness, we hear the story The Dark written by Lemony Snickett and illustrated by Jon Klassen, in which a boy learns that when he faces the darkness, he finds it holds the light within it. Thanks to our reader Richard Dodson!

We introduce the Lenten Theme Center Down–Rise Ready. Each family receives a liturgical theme card. And each week, families take-home a scroll with an invitation to Center Down in prayer and reflection, and Rise Ready to act with love for justice; and one smooth stone, to use to create a cairn throughout the Sundays of Lent to reflect and pray around together. Families build their cairn slowly—stone by stone—laying down burdens and rising into hope and action.
