Arm in Arm in Africa and Ministries International

Arm In Arm In Africa strives to improve conditions and create opportunities for changing the cycle of poverty and disease in South Africa.

Our work embraces the people in the Townships of Guguletu in Cape Town as well as the villages of Malungeni and Itipini in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. We are involved in education, healthcare and food distrbution. Each year a delegation travels to South Africa bringing much needed medical supplies to hospitals and clinics.  The delegation visits schools, daycare facilities and the homes of friends and family. Our programs expand each year to include new areas of need.

Ministries International

St. Joan of Arc Ministries International strives to create mutual, peaceful, international relationships that will expand global consciousness.

Formed in 2006, SJA Ministries International brings together individuals and small groups who are building relationships in communities around the world: some of these relationships were created through St. Joan of Arc and some through other organizations.

The Ministries International committee plans parish events that enhance our awareness of, and solidarity with, our brothers and sisters across the globe. We bear witness to one another’s involvement in the world and serve as an entry point for other parishioners looking to engage in an international effort.

Our goals:

  1. Enhance SJA’s awareness of our oneness with the peoples of all international communities.
  2. Exchange learnings with international communities by building focused and interactive relationships.
  3. Reflect and act on the biblical mandate to share equally in the resources of God’s creation.
  4. Invite SJA parishioners to learn about and invest themselves in already established international partnerships and encourage new initiatives.
  5. Make hospitality a priority in all of our international activities.

The Ministries International committee includes parishioners who are connected to the following organizations (including the nations that are represented):

Sister Parish: Guatemala (SJA webpage and www.sisterparish.org

Arm in Arm in Africa: South Africa

We invite you to join us in striving to build a world community of justice, peace and hospitality. For more information or to volunteer, contact Julie Madden at jmadden@stjoan.com
