The Collaborative Mental Health Ministry of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Community and Bethlehem Lutheran Church recently received the 2016 Andrew Award of Excellence. The award recognizes the combined mental health ministry of the two churches for their significant contributions to the quality of life for persons with mental health illness.
Accepting the award on behalf of SJA was Mary Ann Kelly-Wright, SJA Director of Pastoral Care, and volunteers, Theresa Dolata and Jean Mills.
Andrew Residence was established in 1973 and is one of Minnesota’s leading providers of residential mental health care. They offer comprehensive long-term care, treatment, and rehabilitation services for adults experiencing mental illness.
Bethlehem Lutheran and SJA joined together more than four years ago to provide a welcome environment as well as support and social opportunities for those with mental illness. In addition the collaborative effort has offered education and resources to family and friends of those with mental illness to provide a better understanding of their loved one.
Every second Monday of the month the churches hold an evening gathering that welcomes all with a light supper and speakers who offer education and information that provides greater insight and information on mental health. The evening is open to all.
